WESBROOK VILLAGE FESTIVAL: THE PARTY OF THE YEAR

Summer is almost over and I am just craving routine! But, going from a fun, free spirited summer straight into routine can be such a drag. When my clients finish active rehabilitation, they are usually set up with a Return To Work program to ease back into the workplace – is it possible to form some sort of gradual return-to-school program for us exhausted parents? No? Well okay. The next best thing is the Wesbrook Village Festival!

7TH ANNUAL WESBROOK VILLAGE FESTIVAL

Wesbrook Village is one of our very favourite places to visit. We can easily spend a whole day there exploring the multiple playgrounds, jumping in the splash pad and many shops and restaurants. The perfect day would start with Story Time at the Welcome Centre, followed by a visit to Blenz for a matcha latte, and then head over to play at Nobel Park. Lunch would be a double stop at Togo Sushi and Doughgirls (because my kids never want to eat the same thing, haha!). Then a bike ride through the trails of  Pacific Spirit Regional Park is a must. Their outdoor movie events are one of the best in town! They also have many events throughout the year like Run Canada (here and here) and Kids Day, all fun for the whole family.  Its convenient location is walking distance to UBC Farm and and the beach.

This September 9th, they are holding their 7th annual Wesbrook Village Festival. This festival is a fusion of fun, food and entertainment for young families, students and adults.

 

ENTERTAINMENT

Kids musician and star of the TV series Will’s Jams on CBC Kids Will Stroet, Vancouver’s favourite Dance Band (celebrating over 20 years of spreading the joy) Dr. Strangelove, and vintage vocal trio the Beauty Shop Dolls will take to the main stage with tunes and entertainment that will appeal to all.

For the munchkin-sized festival goers, they also have face-painting, bouncy castle, craft table and swing ride.

FOOD

There will be a free BBQ lunch along and samples from local eateries Doughgirls, Freshii. Biercraft will have Happy Hour Beer Garden (J is ecstatic over this!). And I am most excited that they will soon be a vegan eatery! Virtuous Pie is opening soon and they are giving out samples of their tasty eats!

SHOPPING

Shoppers, rejoice: there will be a sidewalk sale where local retailers and artisans will showcase new products with interactive games and contests. I can’t wait – I just love supporting local.
