I have a confession: I completely dropped the ball on Christmas Presents last year. I left shopping to the very last minute and before I knew it, the girls were out of school for holidays and I couldn’t shop without them being there. I ended up getting Kate a sweater (every 8 year old’s favourite, I’m sure!) and I don’t even recall what I got for Liv. That’s just how memorable it was! And to be completely honest, I didn’t even have the slightest idea of what to get for them.

But this year will be different.  

Walmart Canada has done all the work to help every kid avoid the dreaded sweater gift (guilty!) I picked out a few toys for my girls using Toy Academy here. It was SO easy. I was tasked with checking out some of the items on the Top Toys Under $20 list (here) – I found 3 toys that they would absolutely love in less time than it would take to drive to the mall!

 

The toys I chose were: L.O.L. Surprise Tots Ball ($14), Mayka Block Tape ($20) and the Pie Face Game ($14).

My favourite part was the two of them working together, laughing together.

They are both obsessed with the L.O.L. Surprise Tots Balls. Similar to blind bags, a miniature baby-like doll is housed in a round container with 7 layers of surprises, including secret message stickers, bottle charms and a water surprise! Some even cry when you bathe or feed them.

They rekindled their love for LEGO over the summer so the MAYKA™ Block Tape was the perfect addition to their collection. It comes in 9 colours, transforms almost any surface into a base for building and is compatible with LEGO, Mega Bloks, Kreo and all other leading toy block brands! One side is sticky so it can actually be taped on a wall and built on sideways! So cool!

The Pie Face Game has been on Kate’s wish list. I was a bit reluctant as I don’t like messes, but I mentally prepared for it and the instructions recommended using a wet sponge if whipped cream isn’t available. GENIUS. So that’s what we used. Although, I think getting the girls’ faces splattered the whipped cream would be pretty hilarious.

You can filter your search by age range, ensuring you won’t get anything that is too babyish for your child (6-year-olds hate that!) No more scrambling this year. I will have presents picked out, bought, wrapped and ready to go before December 1st.
