What does the New Year mean to you?

Do you set intentions or resolutions or goals for the entire year? Or are you a go-with-the-flow kind of person?

I’m not usually a goal-digger. In fact, too many goals usually de-motivates me. I like to go-with-the-flow and see where it takes me. If something great comes up, I’ll go after it. I do have things I want to accomplish – don’t get me wrong. I just like to reframe it so that it is a little less overwhelming. This is why I came up with INTENTIONS this year.

Intentions means (to me):

  • things I want to incorporate in my life
  • there is no right or wrong
  • no deadline = less anxiety, less rush
  • there is room for mistakes

By using the word INTENTION, I reframe my mind to feel less pressure on myself but still get sh!t done. I want to accomplish alot but if I don’t, intentions also allow me to celebrate what I did manage to get done.

Here are a few of my intentions for 2018:
🌿 Fitness: I intend on running half marathon #3 this year. I started running races in 2012 and didn’t miss a year. I have completed the BMO Vancouver Marathon (half and 8k), Scotiabank Half and the Vancouver Sun Run (10k). I took 2017 off due to repetitive injuries and, well, boredom. But for 2018, I’m eager to get going again. Also, continuing with my 2017 goal of doing more yoga.

🌿 Work: 2017 was when I started blogging regularly. Though I still had full control of when I wanted to write, I also had to learn to manage it with my job as a kinesiologist. There was a huge learning curve to that. For 2018, I intend on staying on top of my work, in both kinesiology and blog. Finding the strength to say no if I don’t have time is important and knowing when to put work down to spend time with the family.

🌿 Relationships: I am so grateful I made so many new connections last year. I really enjoyed meeting new friends at events and even out and about. This is one of my favourite things about blogging. It has opened up opportunities to really connect with others and bring on new experiences. For 2018, I intend to make a conscious effort to stay connected with people I love and support no matter how busy life gets because it feels so good to have thriving relationships.

What are your intentions for 2018?
I’d love to hear them!
