Lemons! I have never loved lemons so much in my life until the last few years. I start my day with warm water with lemon and I love a good infused water (my fave is lemons or cucumber and herbs).
Since summer is approaching fast and I could use a cool drink (or two!), I’ve put together three recipes using a lemonade base (and if you don’t have a go-to, then I’ve got one here). These were created according to mine and my kiddos’ taste buds – feel free to adjust tartness with more lemon or sweetness level with the honey syrup. (I love line extra tart and extra lemony!)
BOOZY: Moscato Lemonade
INGREDIENTS
1C lemon juice (5-6 lemons)
1C Moscato
1/3C water
3/7C – 1C honey syrup* (see recipe below)
METHOD
Mix in with the rest of the ingredients. Pour over ice.
BASIL Lemonade
INGREDIENTS
1C lemon juice (5-6 lemons)
1 1/3C water
3/7C – 1C honey syrup (see recipe here)
6-10 fresh basil leaves
METHOD
Bruise the basil leaves to help release its flavour. Mix in with the rest of the ingredients and allow to sit for at least 30 mins. (I’ve had it without letting it sit – because, well, patience is not a strong suit of mine – and it still tastes yummy.) Pour over ice.
CAFF’D UP: Green Tea Lemonade
INGREDIENTS
1C lemon juice (5-6 lemons)
1C green tea
1/3C water
3/7C – 1C honey syrup* (see recipe below)
METHOD
Start by brewing tea with 1C of hot water.
Mix in with the rest of the ingredients. Pour over ice.
Boozy lemonade has my name all over it!!
