My good friend, Steph S., was looking for a great tote for work that is an alternative to leather. She sent me the idea to do a post on vegan leather bags and I was like, “Steph, you’re a GENIUS!”

Each season will have its “it” bags – some are original, some carried over from last season and some with updates. Over the years, there has also been more awareness around conscious fashion. But durability and style continue to be a priority that some enthusiasts aren’t willing to forgo. Vegan brands have come a long way! Here are the top 5 vegan and eco-friendly “it” bags the upcoming season.
Backpack
You can’t go wrong with Matt and Nat – they are the leaders of vegan leather bag makers! And their Fabi Mini is a favourite! I’m loving the 90’s vibes in the last few seasons (90’s babe here!). This backpack is the perfect size for everyday and even holds an iPad or MacBook Air.
Convertible Shoulder Bag to Clutch
The deep green colour and softness of the faux suede of this bag just screams fall! If you were to only get one bag this fall, this would have to be it. It easily converts from a crossbody in the day time to clutch at night! Simply remove the straps and voila! Versatility, am I right?
Bucket bags reappeared on the fashion scene a few years ago and they are still going strong – I mean, did they even leave? I love a beautifully crafted bucket bag. They hold so much more than they look! Also, how charming is the little bow of this one from Alixane?

How much do I love seeing designers dive into vegan materials? Ted Baker London and Stella McCartney did! We all need one of those bags for those extra special evenings out – but when they aren’t being used all that frequently, it’s hard to justify spending money on them. Trick is to find one that has a simple silhouette and a little sparkle. This one from Ted Baker has rose gold hardware which works perfectly with the neutral pale pink colour. The slim shoulder straps also make it perfect for running errands during the day. Stella McCartney’s chain strap lends an edge against the shimmery faux leather. Love them both.
