I was a story writer as a child. I loved writing about ideal worlds and situations, always ending with happy. I remember my first academic recognition was from my 5th grade teacher on my story of “The Lost Bracelet.” I still have it…somewhere.
Poetry. I fell in love with poetry while studying English Literature at Simon Fraser University. But, I first started writing it during my last year of high school after taking Literature 12. I stumbled into it because I knew choosing the alternative (science) would blow my chances of getting into university. And there was no way I was willing to risk it. If you have ever read British Literature, you will probably feel like a foreign language – but that is exactly why I loved it so much. The obscurity made it so vulnerable. It was like the writer was pouring out his/her feelings without completely exposing themselves. I started writing too.
I found my old poetry while looking for some other old stuff I can’t remember…and decided to share it here.
