What is WE Day?
Their slogan is: Making Doing Good Doable and they truly are.
“WE is a movement that believes when we come together we can create an even better world. WE makes it easy for you to get involved—whether at home, school or work—by offering resources to help you create positive social change in your community and around the world*. Find out how WE makes doing good, doable.”
Aren’t they just like any other charitable organization?
WE Charity is not an old-fashioned non-profit. Their unique model operates differently. They embrace innovation, tackle the root causes of problems, act as entrepreneurs, and operate with a low administration rate to ensure efficiency. They launched a social enterprise and are defined as social entrepreneurs. What that means is, the ME to WE enterprise financially supports WE Charity by solving root problems on multiple fronts using a closed-loop system. One example of this is that they address poverty through sales of fairtrade chocolate made by farmers in Ecuador. This brings money back into the WE villages in addition to increased awareness to consumers. Learn more here.

Why should I go?
My girls are at that age where they can start to see that not everyone lives equally. Some struggle more than others and as part of humanity, it is in us to help those who aren’t as fortunate. This event will show the girls and I where to start and what a difference it can do in a fun and entertaining way. And as busy as you are, we can all make time to do something good.
This year is the first year that WE is putting on a family oriented event. And one of the best parts is: working parents can go!
Join my family and I for a night of live music and performances! Line up includes: Sarah McLachlan, Lights, Drew Scott and Linda Phan, Peter Mansbridge, Margaret Trudeau, The Christensen Family, Celebrity Marauders, Jessi Cruickshank, Craig and Marc Keilburger, Jacob Tremblay, Esera Tuaolo and Spenser West. Learn and explore opportunities to unwrap brighter futures for women, children and communities around the world.
